The Fort Hays State women's basketball team hosts Central Oklahoma in MIAA play to close out the month of January on Wednesday evening (Jan. 30) in Hays. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm at Gross Memorial Coliseum. FHSU enters at 12-5 overall, 4-5 in the MIAA, while Central Oklahoma is 8-9 overall, 1-8 in the MIAA.

This is the first meeting between Fort Hays State and Central Oklahoma in women's basketball since the 1990-91 season. The all-time series is tied 1-1 with each school winning a game on its home floor. FHSU won the last meeting by a score of 70-62 in Hays. UCO won the previous year in Edmond. Central Oklahoma is a new member of the MIAA this year and this will be the only regular season meeting between the schools.

Fort Hays State is coming off a tough double-overtime loss at Truman this past Saturday by a score of 57-55. Truman moved into the national rankings this week to continue the trend of all the Lady Tiger losses this year coming against teams either in the national rankings or have been at some point this season. Fort Hays State looks to get back on track at home, where it is 7-1 this season with its only loss to a nationally ranked team.

Central Oklahoma enters this contest on a seven-game losing streak, all in conference play. Four of the losses for the Bronchos in that seven-game stretch were by four points or less. It's only conference win this year, however, was against a ranked Pittsburg State team in Pittsburg.

Kate Lehman continues to lead FHSU in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots. She is averaging 15.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 4.4 blocked shots per game. She is still leading NCAA Division II in blocked shots per game. Katelyn Edwards is also averaging double figures at 12.5 points per game, while adding 8.2 rebounds per game and a team-high 2.8 assists per game.
