Lady Tigers Run Win Streak to Six With 62-50 Win at Nebraska-Kearney

The Fort Hays State women's basketball team ran its win streak to six games with a 62-50 win at Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday (Feb. 16). Fort Hays State ended the game on a 16-2 run to move to 18-5 overall and 10-5 in the MIAA. Nebraska-Kearney moved to 6-15 overall and 3-11 in the MIAA.

After Nebraska-Kearney scored the first basket of the game, FHSU tied the score and then moved into the lead for the remainder of the first half, eventually holding a three-point halftime lead of 28-25. The largest lead of the first half for FHSU was nine.

Nebraska-Kearney tied the score right away in the second half, but FHSU went on a 14-3 run to build a lead of 11 with 14:30 remaining. The Lopers countered with a 15-2 run to take the lead back from the Lady Tigers for the first time since early in the first half and led by two points twice before FHSU went on the 16-2 run to close out the final 6:45 of the game.

Traci Keyser led FHSU with her first double-double of the season, going for 15 points and 11 rebounds. Also reaching double figures in scoring for the Lady Tigers were Kate Lehman with 14 and Katelyn Edwards with 12. Beth Bohuslavsky had a team-high six assists.

Nicole Arp led UNK with 16 points, followed by Sarah Hix with 10. Hix and Laramey Lewis each had a team-high seven rebounds for the Lopers.

Fort Hays State will have nearly a week of rest before playing its final regular season road game of the season at Washburn next Saturday (Feb. 23) in Topeka, Kan.
