Sixth-seeded Fort Hays State, coming off a win in the opening round of the MIAA Tournament on Tuesday over Lincoln in Hays, plays Northeastern State in the MIAA Tournament Quarterfinals in Kansas City on Friday (Mar. 8) at 8:15 pm. The Lady Tigers enter with a record of 21-6 overall. Northeastern State enters at 19-7 overall and is ranked No. 8 in the Central Region rankings.
Since Fort Hays State is not in the region rankings entering play in Kansas City, it is likely the Lady Tigers need to make a deep run or win the tournament to make the NCAA Tournament. Northeastern State, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, is responsible for one of Fort Hays State's six losses this season. It snapped the 10-game win streak FHSU had to open the season with a win in Tahlequah, Okla. The teams met only once in the regular season. With a win, the Lady Tigers would face either No. 2 seed Central Missouri or No. 10 seed Missouri Western.
