Fort Hays State, the top seeded team in the MIAA Tournament, faces No. 5 seed Northwest Missouri State on Saturday (Mar. 9) in the semifinals at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Mo. Both teams enter with 20 wins on the season, FHSU at 20-7 overall and NWMSU at 20-9 overall.
Fort Hays State is looking for its second appearance in an MIAA Tournament final since joining the conference in 2006-07. This is the first time the teams have ever met at the MIAA Tournament. Fort Hays State won both meetings with Northwest Missouri State earlier this year in tight games, winning 59-58 in Hays and 64-60 in Maryville.
The winner of this game will meet either No. 2 seed Central Missouri or No. 6 seed Central Oklahoma in the final. Fort Hays State and Central Missouri were co-champions of the MIAA Regular Season.
