Men's Soccer

No. 21 Men's Soccer begins four-game road stretch at Northeastern State

Riding a five-game hot streak, the Tiger men's soccer team hits the road this week for the first half of a four-game trip.
 
No. 21 Fort Hays State University (5-1) starts the trip with a Thursday matchup against No. 6 Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla., at 7 p.m.  The squad will then travel to Harding in Searcy, Ark., on Saturday, Sept. 28 for a 1 p.m. game.
 
Diego Cabral, the reigning MIAA Athlete of the Week, leads the team with three goals, including both game-winners last weekend – a 2-1 conference victory over Southern Nazarene in double overtime, and a 3-0 win against Newman.  Cabral has added two assists on the season as well.
 
Ricardo Yeverino and Austin Clifton are close behind Cabral, as each has two goals (four points).
 
Goalie Jason Babyak continued his undefeated streak over the weekend.  He is now 5-0 for the season with 20 saves and just one goal allowed; a save percentage of .952.
 
NSU (3-0-1) is the sixth-ranked team in the nation, and features top offensive weapons Jordan Schmoker (10 points, two goals and six assists), Paul Samia and Juan Peralta, who have three goals apiece.  Eric Shephard has played all 380 minutes in the net for the Riverhawks, and has 15 saves while allowing three goals.
 
For Harding (1-1-2), Ian Park leads the team with two goals, and Ryan Wilhelm has one goal and one assists.  Four other athletes have one goal for the Bisons.  Seth Peterson has 15 saves in 265 minutes at goalie.
