Tigers Roll to 3-0 Win at Eastern New Mexico

Box Score The 23rd-ranked FHSU men's soccer team rolled to a 3-0 win at Eastern New Mexico in Portales, N.M. on Saturday (Sept. 7). After dropping the first match of the season on Thursday night at Texas-Permian Basin, the Tigers leveled their overall record at 1-1 for the young season.

Fort Hays State did all of its scoring in the second half. Daniel Peralta notched the first goal of the season for FHSU in the 48th minute on a penalty kick. Diego Cabral gave FHSU some breathing room with a goal in the 59th minute on a pass through the defense from Michael Cole. True freshman Damion Cooper left no doubt later in the 77th minute with a goal on a pass from David Lucio.

Goalkeeper Jason Babyak posted a shutout in the first start of his career at FHSU, notching three saves. The Tigers outshot the Greyhounds 15-7.

Fort Hays State hits the road once again next week for another pair of non-conference matches in Colorado. FHSU is at Colorado Mesa on Friday (Sept. 13) and Adams State on Sunday (Sept. 15). The home opener for FHSU begins conference play on Sept. 20 against Southern Nazarene.
