No. 24 Fort Hays State University welcomes South Dakota Mines to Gross Memorial Coliseum for the final non-conference game of the season on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 5:30 p.m.
FHSU (12-3, 6-3 MIAA) will look to return to its winning ways after going 1-1 in last weekend's action, while SDSMT (6-11) comes into Hays, Kan., on a three-game win streak. Â The Tigers and Lady 'Rockers have met up just one other time in school history, a 96-58 victory for FHSU last season at home. Â Fort Hays State has been near flawless against non-conference opponents this season, outscoring them by 45.3 points on average and pulling down 21.3 more rebounds per game.
Katelyn Edwards and
Kate Lehman both had career milestones last weekend in Tahlequah, Okla., and Edmond, Okla., as the duo joined the 1,000 point club. Â Lehman hit the 1,000 point mark last Thursday, finishing with 18 against Central Oklahoma (and adding 19 against Northeastern State). Â Edwards broke the 1,000 point barrier on Saturday at Northeastern State, dropping four points (to go with 11 against UCO). Â Edwards and Lehman are the 16th and 17th members of the 1,000 point club in Tiger women's basketball history.
After Thursday's game, the Tigers travel to Pittsburg, Kan., for a MIAA contest against Pittsburg State on Saturday (Jan. 25).
