Fort Hays State women's basketball will host two in-state conference rivals this week, starting with No. 3 Emporia State on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 5:30 p.m. The Tigers will welcome Washburn to Gross Memorial Coliseum on Saturday (Feb. 1) at 2 p.m.
FHSU (13-4, 6-4 MIAA) is in the midst of a pivotal conference stretch, needing wins to secure a bye to Kansas City, Mo., in the MIAA Tournament. ESU (18-1, 9-1 MIAA) suffered its lone setback of the season last weekend to Northeastern State, a team that defeated FHSU by a narrow margin the week prior. ESU is the second ranked team the Tigers will face this season, having fallen to (previously) No. 8 Central Missouri in December. WU (12-5, 7-3 MIAA) currently holds the fourth spot in the conference standings and has won its last five games.
Several milestones are potentially on tap for the Tigers this weekend, as
Katelyn Edwards is one rebound from No. 600 in her career, and three assists away from No. 200. Additionally,
Kate Lehman will look to continue her climb in the NCAA Record Book for career blocks. Currently 17th with 309 swats, Lehman is averaging 5.3 per game and is nearing the Top 15. A breakdown of Lehman's nearest competitors on the list is below:
