Fort Hays State will play two of its four home games for January this weekend, starting with Lindenwood on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 5:30 p.m. Â Lindenwood is just a half game behind the Tigers in the conference standings, and the two teams have met just once in history. Â That meeting was won by FHSU, 75-63, in St. Charles, Mo., last year.
The two-game homestand wraps up on Saturday, Jan. 11 with an afternoon contest against Lincoln. Â The Blue Tigers are winless in conference play this season, but defeated FHSU in Hays during 2011-12. Â FHSU leads the overall series, 5-1, and won both games last season.
In recent years, Fort Hays State has been dominant in November and December, but stumbled slightly in the month of January. Â The Tigers will look to buck that trend this season, as they brought an 8-1 record into the new year. Â Now 9-2 overall, January will provide a tough test for the Tigers, with six more MIAA matchups (three on the road), and just four home games for the month. Â FHSU will be looking to establish itself as a MIAA regular season title contender and return to Kansas City for the MIAA postseason in March.
