Fort Hays State Women's Basketball returns to non-conference action this weekend with a Sunday, Dec. 14 contest with Missouri Valley College. Game time from Gross Memorial Coliseum is set for 2 p.m.
FHSU (7-1, 2-0 MIAA) has won six straight and is now receiving 46 votes in the WBCA Top 25 poll. The Tigers have four players averaging double-digits in scoring, as
Kate Lehman (20.8),
Chelsea Mason (12.0),
Jill Faxon (11.6) and
Beth Bohuslavsky (10.6) rank as the team leaders. Lehman is averaging 10.8 rebounds per contest as part of a double-double average this season, and is now has 32 blocks on the year. Mason is shooting 33.8 percent from long range, hitting 11 three-pointers in her last two games (including a career-high six against No. 21 Central Missouri). Bohuslavsky scored a career-high 18 points in the Tigers' win over Missouri Western the last time out.
MVC (5-7) dropped a 90-53 contest to MidAmerica Nazarene its last time out, and is led offensively this season by Tatyana Earls' 16.1 points per game. On the boards, Kieanna Wharton has pulled down 7.5 rebounds per game, just ahead of Earls' 7.4 boards per contest. Andressa Augusto's 12.9 scoring average is second on the team, just ahead of Wharton, who has 9.5 points on average.
Sunday's game is the first of two non-conference matchups for FHSU in December, as the second game comes this Tuesday (Dec. 16) against Kansas Wesleyan.
