Fort Hays State Women's Basketball continues the early part of its conference schedule this weekend with Missouri Western on Saturday, Dec. 6. Tip off from Gross Memorial Coliseum is 2 p.m., and is the second of four home games for FHSU in the month of December.
FHSU (6-1) has won five straight and is coming off a 76-75 overtime victory over No. 21 Central Missouri. Â
Kate Lehman recorded a double-double (19 points, 11 rebounds) in the game, adding eight blocks to move past 400 swats for her career (402 currently). Â
Chelsea Mason hit six three-pointers and scored 20 points for FHSU in the game, joined in double-digits by
Beth Bohuslavsky (14 points) and
Nikola Kacperska (13 points). Â Bohuslavsky and Kacperska each had five assists in the game, with Bohuslavsky moving to within two (198) of reaching the 200-mark in career assists. Â The junior guard is on pace to climb into the Top 10 of FHSU's career assists record list by the end of the season.
MWSU (5-1) has been off since last Saturday (Nov. 29) but has won four straight with an average of 79.3 points per game for the year. Â The Griffons' LaQuinta Jefferson is averaging just under 19 points per game to lead the team, while Sarafina Handy's 13.5 points average ranks second. Â In the post, Tiara Hall has collected 7.5 rebounds per game while adding 8.3 points on the offensive end.
After Saturday's game, FHSU will have the week off before returning to the court on Sunday, Dec. 14, hosting Missouri Valley College in a non-conference matchup.
