Fort Hays State welcomes Northeastern State to Gross Memorial Coliseum for the regular season finale on Friday evening (Feb. 28). Game time is slated for 6 p.m.
FHSU (18-7, 11-7 MIAA) is currently tied with Washburn for fifth in the MIAA standings, while Northeastern State is eighth. The Tigers are a half game behind Missouri Southern (11-6 MIAA) for the fourth spot. After defeating Central Oklahoma on Wednesday, FHSU guaranteed itself a finish no lower than sixth in the conference.
Due to the Tigers' earlier loss to Missouri Southern, MSSU holds the tiebreaker and FHSU would need to finish a game ahead of the Lions to earn a first-round bye in the MIAA Tournament. Wednesday's matchup is just the fifth all-time meeting between FHSU and the RiverHawks, as NSU holds a 3-1 advantage, including a 49-48 victory in Tahlequah, Okla., earlier this season.
The Tigers'
Kate Lehman is averaging a double-double in points (17.0) and rebounds (11.2) this season with an NCAA-leading 130 blocks. Lehman is in the midst of a six-game double-dobule streak, and has scored in double-digits 21 times this season (the other four games Lehman finished with nine points).
