Fort Hays State women's basketball, seeded fifth in the MIAA Championships, will host Nebraska-Kearney at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 3 in the opening round of the MIAA Tournament.

The Tigers (19-7, 12-7 MIAA) are 2-0 against UNK so far this season, outscoring the Lopers 166-120 in those matchups.  FHSU defeated UNK in Kearney, Neb., 85-67, on Feb. 5 and again in Hays, Kan., 81-53, on Feb. 22.  Overall, FHSU holds a 46-35 advantage in the series history and has won the last seven matchups.

Last time out, head coach Tony Hobson picked up his 100th win at Fort Hays State in the Tigers' 55-39 victory over Northeastern State, using Kate Lehman's second career triple-double (10 points, 17 rebounds, 10 blocks) as a catalyst.  Lehman leads the team with a double-double season average of 16.8 points per game and 11.4 rebounds per game, going with an NCAA-leading average of 5.4 blocks per game.

The winner of Monday's game will go on to Kansas City, Mo., for the remainder of the MIAA Championships, beginning with a Thursday matchup against fourth-seeded Missouri Southern.

Tickets for Monday's contest will be available to the general public at the gates at 5:30 p.m., an hour and a half prior to game time.
