Fort Hays State hosts Southwest Baptist in the second game of a two-game homestand on Monday night (Jan. 5) at 7:30 pm. The Tigers enter at 8-4 overall, 2-2 in the MIAA, while the Bearcats are 6-7 overall and 1-3 in the MIAA. The Tigers are coming off a hard-fought 80-70 win over Missouri Southern on Saturday.
The Tigers look to make a push in the MIAA standings as no teams remain unbeaten in conference play. Central Oklahoma and Nebraska-Kearney currently sit atop the standings, each at 4-1. Fort Hays State has won the last two meetings with SBU, a 91-72 victory in Bolivar last year and a 74-59 win in Hays in 2012-13. FHSU holds an 8-7 advantage in the all-time series. The Bearcats have had nearly a whole week off since a 64-53 non-conference win over William Woods on its home floor December 30th.
Southwest Baptist is the fifth of the seven MIAA teams in the east that FHSU will play only once during the regular season. This coming Thursday and Saturday, the Tigers travel to Lindenwood and Lincoln to complete the schedule against the east.
