Winners of 12 straight games, the Fort Hays State Women's Basketball looks to close out a two-game road trip with a win at Lincoln on Saturday (Jan. 10) at 1:30 p.m.
Â
FHSU (13-1, 6-0 MIAA) is tied for first in the MIAA standings and is in the thick of the NCAA Central Regional race at the midpoint of its regular season schedule. With 14 games to go, the Tigers are scoring 82.9 points per game as a team – led by senior
Kate Lehman's 21.9 points per game average.Â
Chelsea Mason is up to 35 made three-pointers on the year, keeping her on pace to join FHSU's single-season record list for that category by year's end.
Â
Just outside of the WBCA Top 25, the Tigers are coming off a 75-60 win at Lindenwood on Thursday that saw Lehman record her 45th career double-double (19 points, 10 rebounds, six blocks) while climbing to No. 4 on FHSU's all-time scoring list. Joining Lehman in double-digits was
Paige Lunsford (12 points) and
Beth Bohuslavsky (11 points). Bohuslavsky's 60 assists (4.3 per game) this season is a team-high, and the junior is now just 34 assists short of passing her career-high. Bohuslavsky has 228 assists through 72 games in her career and is on pace to rank among the Tigers' career assists leaders when she graduates.
Â
Lincoln (6-6, 1-5 MIAA) has lost two straight and three of its last four, in the midst of a tough five-game stretch against teams all ranked or receiving votes in the WBCA Top 25. The Blue Tigers have three players averaging double-digits, led by Dorian Briggs' 12.0 points per game. Hunter Yoakum is scoring 11.9 points per contest while Kate Frazier has averages of 11.7 points and 5.0 rebounds – second on the team behind Lizzie Nessling, who is pulling down 5.8 boards per game.
