The Fort Hays State men's basketball squad hits the road for the first time this season with games at Central Missouri and Southwest Baptist. FHSU opened the year with a nine-game home stand and currently sits at 7-2 overall and 1-2 in the MIAA. FHSU tangles with No. 15 ranked Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo., on Thursday (Dec. 17) at 7:30 pm, then heads to Bolivar, Mo., on Saturday (Dec. 19) for a 3:30 pm contest with Southwest Baptist.
The Tigers picked up their first win in MIAA play this year on Saturday (Dec. 12) with an 84-75 win over Nebraska-Kearney.
Dom Samac scored a career-high 28 points in the victory, while
Rob Davis added 20. Fort Hays State as a team leads the MIAA in field goal percentage (.502) and 3-point field goal percentage (.432).
The Tigers look to snap a three-game losing streak in Warrensburg, with its last win there in 2009-10. UCM has won the last two meetings between the teams overall. Central Missouri won last year's only meeting, 80-71 in Hays, as the No. 6 ranked team in the nation. UCM enters Thursday's contest at 8-1 overall and 2-1 in the MIAA.
FHSU looks for its second-straight win in Bolivar against Southwest Baptist on Saturday. The Bearcats enter at 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the MIAA. SBU won last year's only meeting with FHSU by a slim 72-70 margin in Hays on a buzzer beater. The teams meet twice in the regular season this year.
