Fort Hays State Men's Basketball plays at home for the first time this season on Wednesday night (Nov. 16) when it hosts Central Christian (Kan.) College at 7 pm. Fort Hays State is 1-1 overall, while Central Christian is 4-3 overall.
After falling in their season opener, the Tigers are coming off a thrilling 80-78 win at Sioux Falls this past Sunday.
Rob Davis hit a game-winning runner with 0.7 seconds remaining to lift the Tigers to the two-point victory. Davis scored 33 points in the game, hitting 12-of-20 field goal attempts (7-of-11 from beyond the 3-point line), the second time he has scored over 30 in a game at FHSU. He had a career-high 36 last year against Central Oklahoma. Davis leads the team in scoring so far at 22 points per game.
Hadley Gillum is not far behind Davis in scoring average. He had a career-high 20 points in the season opener and backed that up with 17 points against Sioux Falls. Gillum is averaging 18.5 points per game so far after averaging just 5.2 last year.
Central Christian enters on a three-game win streak. Central Christian has scored over 80 points in its last three games, most recently 83 in a seven-point win over Manhattan Christian College.
Fort Hays State will play at home one more time this week when they host nationally ranked Colorado Mines on Saturday at 4 pm. The Orediggers, coming off a 24-8 season, are currently ranked No. 21 in the nation.
