Fort Hays State renews its long and historic basketball rivalry with Washburn on Wednesday (Dec. 7). The Ichabods enter the contest undefeated at 8-0 and this will be their first conference game, while the Tigers enter at 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the MIAA. Tipoff is set for 7:30 pm.
Â
Fort Hays State opened MIAA play this past week at Missouri Southern and Pittsburg State. The Tigers fell just short of tying the game late at Missouri Southern in an 84-81 loss, but bounced back for a win over a struggling Pittsburg State team on Saturday 72-67.
Â
Rob Davis has scored in double figures for every game this season, averaging 23.5 points per game. He had a six-game streak of scoring at least 20 in a game snapped on Saturday at Pittsburg State when he had 13. He is averaging 26.7 points per game at home so far this year.
Â
Hadley Gillum is the only other Tiger averaging double figures at 13.8 points per game. He has reached double figures in six of the eight games this year, hitting a season-high 20 twice.

Â
The Ichabods are currently the first team listed in the receiving votes section of the NABC Division II Poll, just outside the top 25. However, in the D2SIDA supplemental poll, Washburn is ranked No. 15. Washburn has survived three close games this season. The Ichabods have a pair of two-point wins and a three-point win this season, all away from home. Brady Skeens is a force inside, averaging 13 points and 11.6 rebounds per game.
