After going 1-1 to open the season in a pair of neutral site games, the Fort Hays State men's basketball team returns to Gross Memorial Coliseum for its home opener against Central Christian (Kan.) on Wednesday night (Nov. 15). Tip-off is slated for 7 pm. The Tigers started their 2017 campaign with an 85-66 win over No. 15 ranked Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, before falling to Sioux Falls 96-92 in an overtime contest on Saturday.

In the season opener, the Tigers used a 17-0 run in the second half to claim the win over No. 15 Southwest Minnesota State. Five FHSU players scored in double-digits in the victory, as they limited the Mustangs to a 29-point second half. In the second contest of the season against Sioux Falls, the Tigers gave-up a big first half lead before extending the game into overtime. In the extra time, the Cougars scored the final five points to seal the 96-92 win and drop the Tigers to 1-1 to start the season.

After two games, FHSU is led by
Brady Werth with 42 Tiger points, good for a 21.0 average, while collecting eight rebounds. Three other Tigers are averaging double-digit scoring with
Hadley Gillum (12.5), Marcus Cooper (10.5) and
Aaron Nicholson (10.5) all above ten per contest. As a team, FHSU is shooting 49 percent from the field and 31 percent from long-range.

Central Christian comes into Hays after suffering its first loss of the season. Prior to a 69-52 loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan, the Tigers won their first three contests of 2017 with wins over fellow NAIA opponents Kansas Wesleyan, Barclay and McPherson. Jubril Osagie leads the team averaging 17.3 points per game.
