Tigers Set for Home Tilt with Kansas Christian on Tuesday

Kansas Christian (2-2) at Fort Hays State (2-2)
Tuesday, November 21 - 7 pm
Hays, Kan. - Gross Memorial Coliseum

After suffering a 109-101 loss in a double-overtime contest at No. 9 Colorado Mines back on Friday, the FHSU men's basketball team is back in action at home on Tuesday (Nov. 21) as it plays host to Kansas Christian at 7 pm. The Tigers are currently 2-2 on the season, while the Falcons bring in an identical 2-2 overall record.

During their loss to Colorado Mines, the Tigers held a ten-point lead with just a minute left in regulation. Several missed free throws led to the FHSU shrinking, but ultimately it was a foul determined by the official to be a three-point shot attempt in the closing seconds that gave CSM a chance to extend the game. Both teams calculated 10 points in the first overtime, forcing even more extra minutes. However, in the second overtime, the Orediggers held the Tigers scoreless in the closing two and a half minutes to steal the victory.

For the Falcons, they are currently riding a two-game win-streak after defeating Calvary Bible 80-66, and surviving a close matchup against Barclay as they slipped away with the victory 61-60.

Hadley Gillum leads the Tigers as he averages a team-high in both points (16.8) and rebounds (7.0) per game for FHSU. Gillum scored a career-high 36 points at Colorado Mines on Friday. Juniors Brady Werth and Marcus Cooper also contribute double-digits per game as Werth accounts for 15.8 and Cooper records 10.0 points per game. Werth and Cooper also boast 4.8 rebounds per game for their squad. As a team, the Tigers continue to out-rebound their opponents 151-141, with 43 of those coming off offensive boards.

Fort Hays State and Kansas Christian met on New Year's Eve last season. The Tigers were able to clinch the 96-52 win over the Falcons. Tuesday will be just the second all-time meeting between the two.
