After a gritty, come-from-behind victory to open up MIAA play against Missouri Southern on Thursday, Fort Hays State looks for its fourth-straight victory Saturday (Dec. 2) in Hays. The Tigers play host to Pittsburg State with the start time set at 4 pm.

Fort Hays State enters with a 5-2 overall record and 1-0 in the early MIAA season. The Gorillas bring in a 5-3 record with a 0-1 mark in conference. Both teams are coming off close games Thursday night to open conference play. The Tigers earned a 76-69 late-game win, while Pittsburg State went to overtime at Nebraska-Kearney, eventually falling 101-89.

The Tigers are led by senior Hadley Gillum who leads the team in both points with 17.3 per game and his 6.3 rebounds per contest. He produced his second 30-point game of the season Thursday night against Missouri Southern. Trey O'Neil and Brady Werth also account for double-digits, with O'Neil cashing in at 11.7 points per game and Werth at 11 per game. Kyler Kinnamon produces a team-high 5.1 assists per contest. As a team, Fort Hays State is shooting 48.1 percent from the field, while going 38.2 percent from long-range. The Tigers hold the advantage on the boards over their opponents at 229-195 on the season.

On the other side of the match up, Pittsburg State is led by three transfers. University of New Mexico transfer Xavier Adams leads the team at 18.3 points per game and Indiana State transfer Donovan Franklin averages 17.9 points per game. Stetson University transfer Grant Lozoya averages 11.3 per game. The Gorillas are coached by Kim Anderson, who coached the three previous years at the University of Missouri. Prior to that, Anderson coached Central Missouri for 12 years, so he is in his second stint as a head coach in the MIAA.

Last season, the Tigers and Gorillas only matched up once, with Fort Hays State claiming the 72-67 early-season victory in Pittsburg. The contest will be the last home game for the Tigers until December 16 when they host Kansas Wesleyan.
