The Fort Hays State women's basketball team returns to Gross Memorial Coliseum Tuesday (Dec. 19) for its penultimate non-conference game this season when Midland University makes the trip to Hays. First tip is set for 7 p.m.
 
The Tigers head into the contest 9-2 on the year, while Midland are 8-7 so far this season. Tuesday's contest will be an exhibition game for the Warriors, who are members of the NAIA Division II.
 
Fort Hays State has thrived in non-conference play under head coach Tony Hobson, going 67-5 in regular season out of conference contests. The Tigers have won 44-straight home non-conference games in the regular season, dating back to Hobson's first season (2008).
 
The Warriors hold a 5-1 lead in the all-time series after winning all five games while the Tigers were still in the NAIA. Fort Hays State beat Midland for the first time one year ago today, 12/19/16 in Hays. Midland is 0-1 in Hays, as last season was its first-ever trip to Gross Memorial Coliseum.
 
Tatyana Legette leads the Tigers with 14.4 points per contest, while three other Tigers also average in double figures in scoring. Carly Heim raised her average to 10.5 points per game after pacing the team with 22 points against Rockhurst on Saturday.
 
Midland lost a two-game winning streak on Monday, falling to Baker 67-62 at home. The Warriors score more than 75 points per game, but they allow opponents to score nearly 73 points each night. They rank fifth in NAIA Division II with a 37.8 percent effort from behind the arc. Three players are averaging double-digits in scoring for Midland, including Joelle Overkamp who leads the team in points (17.1), rebounds (6.8) and steals (2.7).
