The 11th-ranked Fort Hays State men's soccer team will kick off the 2017 season with a rematch of the last two NCAA Division II Quarterfinals, hosting No. 3 Rockhurst University on Thursday (Aug. 31) at 6:00 p.m. to begin the new campaign. Live stats and live video links will be available for the season-opening match.
The 2016 season was memorable for FHSU as it again set a school record for wins going 14-2-2 on the year, claiming their third straight NCAA Division II Central Region Championship. The Tigers start the season at the top of the MIAA in the preseason coaches poll.
The 2017 team will have many new faces, along with experienced veterans. Returning to the Tiger lineup this season is All-American
Luis Torres and MIAA Freshman of the Year
Luis Mendez. Torres led the Tigers in minutes (1718) last season. Also returning to this year's roster are 2016 All-MIAA selections

Michael Yantz,
Killian Gorman,
Tobias Patino,
Sergio Villalba and
Arsenio Chamorro.
Rockhurst ended FHSU's season in 2016 and advanced to the National Semifinals by means of a 1-0 victory. The Hawks finished last season with a record of 18-3-3 and a second straight GLVC Championship.
