The Fort Hays State men's soccer team gears up for a four-match home stand the next two weeks as the Tigers begin MIAA play this weekend. The first match is Friday (Sept. 22) as the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist make their way to Hays for a 5:30 p.m. kickoff. On Sunday (Sept. 24), the Tigers will host the RiverHawks of Northeastern State in an afternoon match set to begin at 11 a.m.
FHSU enters the weekend with an overall record of 0-4-2. As a team, FHSU ranks fourth in the MIAA in both goals scored and goals allowed, netting five goals of their own while allowing 12 to opponents. The Tigers have efficiently created opportunities to score as they are third in the conference in shots with 57.
Derick Gonzalez has been the main offensive weapon for the Tigers this year as he has scored four goals totaling eight points. He leads the MIAA with 13 shots, six of which were on frame.
Mauricio Etcheverry is the other Tiger to find the back of the net, scoring one goal on four shots.

Luis Mendez have set the Tigers up with scoring opportunities accumulating one assist each.
Southwest Baptist comes to Hays with an overall record of 0-5. The key players for the Bearcats are Daniel Santibanez and Alec VanWormer as they have netted one goal each on the season. Jaydon Charles is another offensive weapon as he is tied for the conference lead in shots with 13.
Northeastern State arrives in Hays for Sunday's match with a 3-3 record this season. The RiverHawks are riding a three game winning streak as they prepare to face the Tigers. Joe Garcia, Jackson Padilla and Nyasha Dube are key players to watch for as they all have scored two goals so far this year. Garcia is also tied for the conference lead with 13 shots.
