Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers Fall 1-0 in Last Match Before MIAA Play to Ichabods

In their final match before MIAA play commences, the Fort Hays State women's soccer team dropped a 1-0 match against Washburn in Hays Friday night. The Tigers were unable to find the back of the net and now fall to 3-2-2 on the early season.

The match was even for most of the way as each team was given multiple scoring opportunities. At the 32:50 mark in the contest, Ellie Karloff for Washburn was able to catch an assist from Paige Ledesma to score her third goal of her 2017 campaign. This would be the only goal in the match for either team. The Tigers gathered 13 shots with three hitting near target, while the Ichabods only earned six shots with five hitting close to frame.

Eden Stoddard led the Tigers with five shots, but earned her first yellow card of the season alongside Wasburn's Mackenzie Heiman in the 77th minute. Heiman led her team with two shots.

At the goalkeeper position, Kristen Thompson suffered her first loss of the season behind the net for the Tigers. Thompson captured four saves to increase her season total to 20. Kaitlin Minnich earned the win at the keeper position for the Ichabods with her three saves to put her record at 4-2-0.

The Tigers will start their 2017 MIAA season on Sunday against Emporia State with kick off set for 3:30 p.m. from the FHSU Soccer Stadium.
