ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Fort Hays State's struggles in conference road games continued on Saturday (Jan. 27) in a 69-63 loss at Lindenwood University. The Tigers are now just 1-5 in MIAA road games this year and moved to 12-8 overall, 5-6 in the MIAA. Lindenwood improved to 14-7 overall, 6-6 in the MIAA.
 
Fort Hays State had control of the game early, leading 24-15 at the 4:27 mark of the first half. Then a rash of Tiger miscues allowed Lindenwood to go on a 10-0 run and take its first lead of the game by one point. A Kyler Kinnamon three-point shot snapped the burst, but the Lions ended the half on a 12-3 run to get to the game tied 27-27.
 
Early in the second half, poor ball security against Lindenwood's defensive pressure led to an 8-0 run for the Lions, after the Tigers took a brief two-point lead. A Trey O'Neil three-point shot pulled the Tigers back within three, but FHSU struggled to just eight points over the first 11:30 of the second half and saw Lindenwood push its lead out to 12. A 7-0 burst by the Lions provided the dagger, putting the Lions up 17 with 6:03 to go in the game. They led by the same margin again at the 4:49 mark.
 
Fort Hays State went on an 8-0 run to get back within nine at the 2:54 mark, but the momentum stalled and Lindenwood extended the lead back to 13 with four consecutive free throws. The Tigers hit a flurry of three-point field goals late, three by O'Neil and one by Hadley Gillum, to pull the final margin back inside 10. However, it was too late as the Lions hit enough free throws down the stretch and kept the Tigers winless inside Hyland Arena now in four tries.
 
O'Neil led the Tigers in scoring with 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field, including a 5-of-9 effort beyond the 3-point line. Gillum added 14 points and a team-best seven rebounds, while Kinnamon had 13 points and a team-high four assists.
 
Chandler Diekvoss led the Lindenwood scoring effort with 18 points, doing most of his damage at the free-throw line where he went 10-of-10. Jackson Price had 15 points, Adam Pohlman added 14, and Dominique Dobbs had 10.
 
The Tigers look to snap their three-game losing skid on Wednesday (Jan. 31) at home when they host Emporia State at 7:30 pm. The Tigers defeated the Hornets earlier this year in Emporia for their only conference road win of the season so far.
