Tigers Close Out Non-Conference Play with McPherson College Sunday

Fort Hays State Men's Basketball plays its final non-conference game of the regular season on Sunday (Dec. 30) when it hosts McPherson College. The Tigers enter on a five-game win streak with an overall mark of 7-3, while McPherson is 7-8 overall.

Fort Hays State seeks its 28th consecutive win over McPherson and a second-straight year of going undefeated at home in non-conference games. FHSU went 6-0 in non-conference home games last year and sits at 5-0 in non-conference home games this year. The Tigers have won 14 straight non-conference home games going back to the 2016-17 season. FHSU leads the all-time series with McPherson 38-17. The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs last season 87-62.

The Tigers escaped with a double-overtime 101-96 win over Bethel College on December 17 to extend the home court non-conference win streak. They kept Mark Johnson's perfect record against NAIA schools intact, now at 68-0. Fort Hays State owns an 11-game home court win streak overall, which is currently the 13th longest in the nation, dating back to last season.

Kyler Kinnamon leads the Tigers in assists, averaging 4.9 per game after a career-high nine against Bethel College. He ranks fourth nationally in assist/turnover ratio (4.5) with 49 assists to 11 turnovers, while leading the MIAA. Brady Werth (15.0), Marcus Cooper (13.5) and Aaron Nicholson (11.6) are the top three scorers for the Tigers, all averaging double figures. Werth has reached at least 20 points in a game four times this season, while Cooper has accomplished the feat twice.

McPherson started the year 6-3 before going on a five-game losing streak. The Bulldogs snapped the skid with a win over Haskell Indian Nations before falling to Emporia State on December 19 by just eight points. Chamaje Barideaux is the only Bulldog averaging double figures in scoring for the season at 16.8 points per game.
