No. 3 Tigers Look to Fend Off Dragons in Regional Semifinals

The third-ranked Fort Hays State women's basketball team will play in the Central Region semifinals for the second year in a row and the third time in the last five years Saturday (March 16) when the Tigers host MSU Moorhead. Opening tip between the top-seeded Tigers and the No. 5 seed Dragons is set for 7:30 p.m. inside Gross Memorial Coliseum.

Important Fan Information
Tickets: All seats are general admission for the regional tournament. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for youth/students, with FHSU students admitted for FREE with a valid Tiger card.
Parking: The grass lot adjacent to Gross Memorial Coliseum will be OPEN today. Auxiliary parking will be also available at Lewis Field Stadium, on the south edge of the FHSU campus. Shuttles will run from Lewis Field to the Coliseum every 10 minutes beginning at 4 p.m. and continuing until the end of the final game of the night.
Tiger Pregame Parties: The FHSU Alumni Office will host Tiger Spirit Parties before each Fort Hays State game this weekend inside the Eagle Communications Hall at the Robbins Center. Saturday's festivities are scheduled from 4:30-6:30 p.m. More information can be found here.

The Tigers moved on to the semifinals after a hard-fought 74-65 win over Pittsburg State in the quarterfinals on Friday. Kacey Kennett (12 points, 11 rebounds) posted her third career double-double in the win, two of which have come in the NCAA Tournament. Taylor Rolfs has turned in four strong performances in the postseason so far, averaging a team-best 15.0 points since the conclusion of the regular season.

This is the first ever meeting between Fort Hays State and MSU Moorhead. The Tigers are 14-2 against NSIC programs under head coach Tony Hobson, including a 2-1 mark in the NCAA Tournament.

A win Saturday would match a pair of program home records for FHSU. It would be the team's 25th straight victory at home, matching the record set in 2015-17, as well as the 18th home win this season, matching the mark posted in 2014-15.

MSU Moorhead, the NSIC regular season champions, head into the contest 27-6 overall. They are in the regional semifinals for just the second time and the first since 2009. The Dragons are 1-2 against MIAA teams in the NCAA Tournament. As a team, MSUM averages 68.7 points on 41.3 percent shooting per game while allowing just 59.1 points every night. Megan Hintz is averaging a double-double (15.3p, 10.1r) on the year, while two other Dragons average in double figures in Kiley Borowicz (14.0ppg) and Jacky Volkert (12.6ppg). All three earned first team All-NSIC honors. They advanced to the regional semifinals with a 63-54 win over conference rival Minnesota Duluth.
