The FHSU Men's Soccer team will look to bounce back this week with a pair of road matches in Oklahoma as they will travel to Tahlequah on Thursday (Oct. 7) to take on Northeastern State with a 3:30 pm kickoff, then face No. 20 Southern Nazarene on Saturday (Oct. 9) in Bethany, Okla. with a 1 pm start.
The Tigers are fresh off of a 2-1 loss to Harding last Sunday (Oct. 3) as the Bisons were able to score on a fast break in the final five minutes of the match. FHSU currently sits at 5-3-1 overall (2-1 GAC). Blake Arndt continues to lead the Tigers in scoring with five goals, while Antonio De La Torre ranks second with three. The Tigers have outscored opponents 18-10 this season and average just over 14 shots per game. Goalkeeper Kieran Brown has been solid this season with 38 saves.
Northeastern State is currently 5-5 overall (3-1 GAC), also coming off its first conference loss to Southern Nazarene 2-1 on Sunday. The Riverhawks are knotted with opponents in scoring at 18 goals each and average 13 shots a game. Southern Nazerene is 6-3 overall (3-0 GAC). The Crimson Storm has a 16-13 goal advantage against opponents this season and allow an average of 11 shots per game.
The Tigers are 11-9-5 against the Riverhawks all-time, with the last matchup ending in a 1-0 loss in Hays during the 2021 spring season. FHSU is 10-2 against SNU all-time as the last matchup ended in a 3-2 loss in Bethany in the spring of 2021. The Tigers are 5-2 in Bethany all-time, winning three out of the last four.
