BETHANY, Okla. - Fort Hays State Men's Soccer advanced to the GAC/MIAA Tournament championship match after a 1-0 victory over Rogers State on Friday (Nov. 12). The Tigers scored less than two minutes into the second half and held off the Hillcats the rest of the way. Fort Hays State will face the winner of the other semifinal match between No. 4 seed Northeastern State and regular season champion and No. 1 seed Southern Nazarene.
After returning from halftime scoreless, the Tigers scored the match's lone goal in the 47th minute when Ethan Doud sent a ball into the box. It went through a cluster of players and found the left corner of the net after the goalkeeper was slow on reacting to the ball, anticipating a potential redirect. The FHSU defense and goalkeeper Kieran Brown, who recorded five saves, held on for the seventh shutout of the season.
The Tigers will play in the championship match on Sunday (Nov. 14) at 1 pm.
