The 15th-ranked Fort Hays State men's soccer team travels to Wichita this Saturday (Oct. 4) to take on Newman. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m.
Fort Hays State (7-2-3, 5-0-1 GAC) is fresh off of a pair of crucial conference victories over Southern Nazarene, 3-1, and then 16th-ranked Northeastern State, 2-1. The Tigers have outscored opponents 26-13 so far this season, while averaging almost 13 shots per match and posting a .454 shots on goal percentage. Blake Arndt continues to lead the team and the GAC/MIAA with six goals, while Callum Frogson and Tyler Lockhart are tied for second on the team with four goals apiece. Inigo Jimenez is tied for the best mark in the conference with six assists.
Newman (0-10-1, 0-5 GAC) fell to Southern Nazarene 5-1 in its most recent match. The Jets have scored seven goals so far this season and average seven shots per match. FHSU leads the all-time series 8-1 after defeating Newman 3-1 in Hays earlier this season. Newman will face Rogers State on Thursday (Oct. 6) before hosting Fort Hays State.
