The Fort Hays State men's soccer team play another pair of GAC/MIAA matches this week as they travel to Bethany, Okla. on Thursday (Sep. 29) to take on Southern Nazarene at 7 p.m. before returning home to host Northeastern State on Saturday (Oct. 1) with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
The Tigers (5-2-3, 3-0-1 GAC) are fresh off of wins over Ouachita Baptist, 4-0, and Harding, 5-1, from last week. Fort Hays State, ranked No. 24 in the latest national Top 25 poll, has outscored opponents 21-11 this season, while averaging over 13 shots per match. Blake Arndt leads the Tigers and is tied for the best mark in the conference with five goals. Callum Frogson and Tyler Lockhart are tied for second on the team with three goals each. The Tigers also lead the conference with 20 assists with Inigo Jimenez (5) and Anders Sandsto (3) leading the way. Kieran Brown has posted two clean sheets between the posts for the Tigers this season, while compiling 42 saves.
Southern Nazarene (3-3-3, 1-0-2 GAC) played to a 1-1 draw with Rogers State in its most recent match. The Crimson Storm has outscored opponents 16-12 so far this season, while averaging 15 shots per game. The Tigers lead the all-time series 10-4 despite the Storm taking the last three matchups.
Northeastern State (4-1-2, 2-0-1 GAC) also tied Rogers State 1-1 in their last match. The RiverHawks, ranked No. 16 in the latest national Top 25 poll, have outscored opponents 14-5 this season and average over 15 shots per match. FHSU leads 14-9-5 in the all-time series after defeating NSU 2-0 in the GAC/MIAA Tournament Championship last season.
