JOPLIN, Mo. – The Fort Hays State women's soccer team tallied another win on the season on Friday (Oct. 20) against Missouri Southern State. The Tigers played lockdown defense, notching their fifth-straight shutout victory by a score of 1-0. FHSU moved to 11-1-3 on the season, 7-0-1 in conference play, while MSSU fell to 0-13-2, 0-7-1 in MIAA action.

Isabel Robben was up to the test in the first period, securing three big saves to keep MSSU off the board early. The Lions outshot the Tigers 5-2 up until the halftime break. The Lions also earned five corner kicks but came up empty handed. The match was scoreless after the first period.

The Tigers came out on a mission in the second period, flipping the script and outshooting the Lions 5-1. The Lions' lone shot was not on target. The Tigers broke through in the 58' minute with a goal scored by
Hannah Mares to take the lead. Mares' shot was assisted by
Sullivan Kelly, setting her up perfectly for the go-ahead score. That's all that Fort Hays would need the rest of the way to secure another road victory.

Fort Hays State travels to Warrensburg to face Central Missouri on Sunday (Oct. 22) at 1 p.m. UCM currently sits just one spot back of the Tigers and Ichabods in the MIAA standings with three matches to play in the regular season.
