Tigers Score Two First Half Goals to Hold Off Ranked RiverHawks

HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State Tigers faced off against the No. 24 ranked Northeastern State RiverHawks on Thursday night (Oct. 26) at FHSU Soccer Stadium. The Tigers now are 7-6-3 overall and 6-2-2 in the GAC, standing firm in second place in the conference standings after a 2-0 win. The RiverHawks moved to 6-5-3 overall and 4-4-1 in conference.

The first half of the game saw the Tigers dominate with two beautifully executed goals. In the 21st minute, Blake Arndt found the back of the net with a header in the box on well-timed assisting passes from Mika Leue and Inigo Jimenez. The Tigers continued to press forward and in the 36th minute, Elias Ovelar Semeniuk scored, thanks to an assist from Pablo Orozco.

The second half began with the RiverHawks determined to turn the tide. They launched a relentless attack, pushing hard to get on the scoreboard. The Tiger defense, led by Ben Dixon in goal, held firm. Dixon made crucial saves to maintain the lead and deny the RiverHawks any scoring opportunities.
