Tigers Dominate Bronchos to Continue Conference Streak

HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State Tigers hosted the Central Oklahoma Bronchos in an exciting conference clash at the FHSU Soccer Stadium on Sunday (Oct. 8). The Tigers continued their impressive run this season, securing a dominant 3-0 victory over the Bronchos.

The Tigers came into the match with a stellar 7-1-3 record, including an impressive 3-0-1 mark in conference play. On the other side, Central Oklahoma was looking to improve their 4-2-5 overall record and 1-0-3 conference record.
 
The first half of the game saw both teams battling for control, with the Tigers asserting their dominance early on. Reilly Madden broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute, slotting the ball into the back of the net with an assist from Gracen Chaney. The Tigers held a 1-0 lead at halftime with eight shots compared to Central Oklahoma's four.
 
As the second half commenced, the Tigers remained relentless in their pursuit of goals. Hannah Mares extended their lead in the 62nd minute, capitalizing on an opportunity created by Montserrat Diaz and Kintzli Wagner. Skylar Forrest added to the tally in the 79th minute, with assists from Carly Walker and Claire Gaeth, sealing a convincing 3-0 victory for Fort Hays State.
 
The Tigers dominated the shot count, outshooting the Bronchos 15-8, with seven shots on target compared to Central Oklahoma's one. The Tigers' goalkeeper, Isabel Robben, put up a solid performance making a crucial save to maintain a clean sheet.
 
With this commanding win, the Fort Hays State Tigers improved their record to 8-1-3 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 4-0-1. The Tigers currently sit in a tie with Washburn and Central Missouri atop the conference standings. They now set their sights on their next challenge, an away match against the Northeastern State RiverHawks next Friday (Oct. 13).
