LIBERTY, Mo. – Fort Hays State Tennis fell to Southwest Baptist on Saturday afternoon (April 8) at Bennett Park. The competition had four total matches go unfinished after SBU raced quickly to four team points to take the match.

Irina Alfonso and
Maria Paz Diaz (No. 1) took two games in their doubles match at the beginning of the dual, losing 6-2.
Fiorella Mendez and
Heidi Lubbers fell as well in their doubles match at the No. 2 position by a score of 6-1. The No. 3 doubles match went unfinished after the Bearcats claimed the point with their victories in the top two spots.

Stefany Stemmer (No. 1) fell to her opponent in straight sets, 6-1 in both. Alfonso split her contest at the No. 2 spot and the match went unfinished. Alfonso dropped the opening set 6-1 but came right back to even things up with a 7-5 victory in set two. Mendez (No. 3) was unable to finish her match in singles play as well. Mendez was tied 5-5 in set two when the match was called off.
Grace Unruh (No. 5) was trailing 6-4, 4-3 when her match was called.

Paz Diaz (No. 4) fell in two sets but was able to claim four games throughout the match, 6-2, 6-2.
Hope Lubbers (No. 6) fell in her match 6-0, 6-1.

The Tigers will travel to Kearney, Neb. on Wednesday (April 12) to face the UNK in their final MIAA conference match of the spring. The match is slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
