Men’s Soccer Hosts Harding and Ouachita Baptist in Final Home Regular Season Contests

Fort Hays State Men's Soccer is gearing up for its last two home conference matches, facing Harding on Thursday (Oct. 24) at 6 p.m., then Ouachita Baptist on Saturday (Oct. 26) at 6 p.m.

The Tigers go into Thursday's match 7-3-2 overall, while holding a GAC record of 4-2-1. The Tiger offense has been strong as of late, scoring 20 goals the past five matches. Currently, the Tigers sit third in the conference standings with 13 points, trailing Rogers State and Southern Nazarene.

The Tigers are leading the nation with an impressive 19.4 shots per game. Defensively, they are limiting opponents to just 7.9 shots per match, while allowing the fewest goals in the GAC. Seventeen different Tigers have found the back of the net this season, underscoring the team's balance. Tadhg Walsh has been a standout, tied for the national lead with 10 assists and he leads the team with 12 points. Elias Ovelar Semeniuk also had a stellar performance last week, contributing two goals and an assist in Thursday's win over Newman, bringing his season points total to 10. The Tigers have earned individual accolades of late, with Marcos German repeating as a GAC Player of the Week, this time as Defender of the Week, while Ovelar Semeniuk earned GAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Harding, with a record of 1-9-3 (1-6 GAC), recently faced GAC-leading Rogers State and fell by a 6-0 score. The Bisons average a goal per match, but allow an average of three per match. Harding has allowed the most shots (250) in the conference, and has given up a conference-high 39 goals. Harding's leading scorer, Lesego Maloma, has notched three goals this season. In their first meeting earlier this season, the Tigers beat the Bisons 5-1 and improved their all-time record against Harding to 15-2.

Ouachita Baptist at 3-8-2 (1-5-1 GAC) will first face Newman in Wichita before heading to Hays. OBU is last in goal count this year in the GAC with just eight so far. OBU has a skilled striker in Alexis Murillo, who has five goals this season on just 15 shots. Ouachita conceded 24 goals so far this season, third most in the conference. FHSU won the first meeting with OBU this year 3-1. Overall, the FHSU holds an undefeated 7-0-3 record against OBU, including a 4-0 mark at home.
