HAYS, Kan. – The Fort Hays State men's and women's wrestling squads took to the mats for their first action in front of fans on Saturday night (Oct. 18) at the annual Black and Gold scrimmage. A total of 25 matches were contested, 13 on the men's side and 12 on the women's, showcasing both Tiger veterans and newcomers. There were nine newcomers victorious in the event with five on the men's side and four on women's side.
In women's action, the Black squad won seven of the 12 matches and won the team score 28-24.
Nichole Moore wrestled twice on the evening for the Black and flipped the team score in their favor with a fall in the final match. She won both of her matches.
In men's action, the Gold won 33-16 by taking eight of the 13 matches contested. Black had a four point lead six matches in, but a fall by
Griffin Bohanan put the Gold in front for good. They pulled away late with a fall from
Riah Ostrander and a major decision by
D'Andre Brown.
