WRAY, Colo. - The Fort Hays State men's wrestling team went 1-1 in a tri-dual against No. 24 Chadron State and Otero Junior College Saturday evening (Nov. 15). The Tigers fell to the Eagles 40-0 before cruising past the Rattlers, 51-3.
 
Chadron State opened the day by taking all 10 matches, including seven bonus-point wins. The Tigers bounced back in the second dual, taking nine of the 10 bouts, all of which were bonus-point affairs.
 
D'Andre Brown opened the rout with a 16-2 major decision at 125 pounds, before Jett Schwartz pinned his opponent at 133 pounds in the first period. OJC bounced back with its lone win at 141 before Jarret Mader opened a run of seven-straight victories with a pin in sudden victory at 149.
 
Cash Thomas needed just 22 seconds to pin his opponent at 157 pounds, with Cason Lindsey following with a second-period pin in his season debut. Two takedowns and 10 nearfall points helped Houston Frank to a 17-0 technical fall at 174 pounds before 12th-ranked Matthew Rodriguez racked up three takedowns before pinning his 184-pound opponent in 2:20.
 
Ryan Patterson kept the theme going with a 32-second pin at 197 pounds, followed by Riah Ostrander wrapping up the evening with a pin of his own at 285 pounds in just 74 seconds.
 
The Tigers will be on the road once again next Saturday (Nov. 22) for the Younes Hospitality Open in Kearney, Neb. before competing at home for the first time when they host Colorado School of Mines and Ouachita Baptist for a tri-dual on Saturday, December 6.
