The Fort Hays State men's wrestling season returns to action Saturday (Nov. 22) at the Younes Hospitality Open. Nebraska-Kearney will host the event inside the SportsPlex, with more than 800 athletes representing over 40 schools set to compete across three divisions.

advance online here or at the door, with no cash accepted on site. Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for youth 14-18 and free for children 13 and under.
The Tigers are expected to send 23 competitors to Kearney, including 14 in the elite brackets and nine in the intermediate brackets.Â

Eight Tigers have reached the podium at a tournament so far this season, including a pair of third-place finishes for
Cash Thomas at 157 pounds at the DWU Open and for
Kaden Markley who competed unattached at 149 pounds at the Drury Open.
Ryan Patterson (197) and
Riah Ostrander (285) both placed fifth at the DWU Open. Four others placed at the Drury Open while competing unattached, including
Andrew Honas (fifth at 141),
Griffin Mitchell (sixth at 174),
Aiden Shields (seventh at 125) and
Jace Schartz (eighth at 165).

Markley leads the squad with seven wins so far this season, turning in a record of 7-3 across two different open tournaments. Thomas is next with six victories, going 6-2 in one tournament and a pair of duals.

The Tigers have attended every Younes Hospitality/Nebraska-Kearney Open held since 2011. FHSU last had a champion at the event in 2022 when current graduate assistant
Tereus Henry captured the title at 197 pounds.
Looking ahead, the Tigers will compete at home for the first time in two weeks when FHSU hosts a tri-dual with No. 25 Colorado School of Mines and Ouachita Baptist on Saturday, December 6 before hosting the FHSU-Bob Smith Open the following day.
