Fort Hays State Men's Soccer plays host to the University of Indianapolis in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 23) at FHSU Soccer Stadium. No. 9 seed Indianapolis won the opening round game of the tournament at FHSU Soccer Stadium on Friday for the right to play No. 1 seed Fort Hays State. The match is set for 1 p.m.
The Tigers enter the NCAA Tournament unbeaten at 17-0-3 overall after winning the GAC/MIAA regular season and tournament titles. The 2025 Tigers are the first team in program history to navigate a regular season unbeaten. This is the first time the Tigers hold the No. 1 seed and play at home in the 10-team super regional format the tournament started in 2019. The Tigers have played either away or neutral games in their six NCAA Tournament matches since 2019.
University of Indianapolis is coming off a thrilling 4-3 victory over McKendree in Friday's opening round. The Greyhounds were down 3-1 at the half, but put together a furious rally late to flip the result in their favor. UIndy scored twice in the final four minutes to go from down one to up one with just three seconds remaining on the clock. The final goal was a crossing pass in the waning seconds that deflected off a McKendree player's foot under a diving keeper, off the post, and into the net. UIndy holds an overall record of 11-5-3.
Fort Hays State is making its 11th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The program is only in its 15th year of existence. FHSU narrowly missed making the national tournament its first year of 2011, but then went on a nine-year streak (2012-2021) of making the NCAA Tournament which was the nation's longest active streak in NCAA Division II until it was snapped in 2022. The Tigers are back in the tournament for a second year in a row after returning in 2024. Fort Hays State's 11 appearances in the NCAA Tournament is the third-most by a D2 program in the last 15 years, only trailing Cal State L.A. - 13 and Charleston (W.Va.) - 12.
In the latest United Soccer Coaches Top 25 rankings, Fort Hays State is ranked No. 4. The Tigers held the No. 4 ranking for the final three regular season polls, which has been their highest ranking this season.
