Fort Hays State Men's Soccer had two of its top student-athletes named to the CSC Academic All-America Team for the 2025 season on Tuesday (Dec. 16). Earning the honor for a second-straight year was Tadgh Walsh, a first-team selection for 2025 as a midfielder, while
Elias Ovelar Semeniuk earned the honor for the first time, a second-team selection at forward.
The Academic All-America Team is voted on by Sports Information Directors and Athletic Media Relations Directors throughout NCAA Division II, which combines an athlete's athletic accomplishments along with their academic accomplishments.
Â
Walsh was a third-team selection as a midfielder in 2024, but bumped up to the first team this year. He is now the only player in program history to earn a CSC Academic All-America selection twice as he was just the third student-athlete in program history to receive CSC Academic All-America honors last year, when he joined Moritz Walther (2019) and Alec Bevis (2021). Walsh joins Bevis as the only individuals in program history to be named to the first team. The Dublin, Ireland native holds a 3.87 cumulative GPA as a Health and Human Performance major.
Â
Walsh put together four strong seasons on the pitch with 53 points in his career (13 goals, 27 assists). He now ranks second in career assists at FHSU. He earned All-MIAA honors all four years, including first-team honors each of the last three years. He is a two-time performance All-America selection, earning a second-team selection from D2CCA in 2024 and a first-team selection from United Soccer Coaches in 2025. He was the GAC/MIAA Midfielder of the Year in 2025. He was also an all-region midfielder three-straight years and a four-time All-GAC/MIAA Tournament Team selection.
Â
Ovelar Semeniuk earns the distinction for the first time after having a very strong 2025 season. He was an All-America First Team selection in 2025 by both D2CCA and United Soccer Coaches. His 15 goals ranked second in NCAA Division II and he finished the year with 35 points, adding five assists to the 15 times he scored. He is the first forward in program history to receive CSC Academic All-America honors. The Asuncion, Paraguay native holds a 3.65 cumulative GPA as an Agriculture major at FHSU.
Â
Over three seasons, Ovelar Semeniuk has been a strong offensive threat with 31 goals and 10 assists, good for 72 career points at FHSU, which ranks fourth on the career list. His 31 goals is third-best in program history. He is a three-time All-GAC/MIAA selection and three-time all-region selection. He was the D2CCA Central Region Player of the Year and the GAC/MIAA Offensive Player of the Year in 2025.
Walsh and Ovelar Semeniuk brings Fort Hays State's all-time CSC Academic All-America selection count to 80. They are the first two Tigers to be recognized as Academic All-America selections in 2025-26. Fort Hays State had seven selections during the last academic year of 2024-25.
Â
Fort Hays State's first CSC Academic All-America selection occurred in 1975.
FHSU now has 50 Academic All-America selections since joining the MIAA in 2006-07.Â
