HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State Men's Wrestling went 1-1 on Saturday evening (Dec. 6) in a tri-dual with Colorado School of Mines and Ouachita Baptist. The Tigers dropped their non-conference dual with No. 25 ranked Colorado School of Mines 36-8, but bounced back for a 23-17 win over Ouachita Baptist in the conference meeting between the schools.

D'Andre Brown got the Tigers on the board first with an 11-9 decision over Jason Goodin at 125, but the Orediggers went on a roll from that point with seven-straight wins to build a 33-3 lead.
Ryan Patterson was the only other Tiger with a win at 197, scoring a 19-3 tech fall over Jeffery Morosini.
Colorado School of Mines took two matches by fall, two by tech fall, two by major decision, and two by decision to account for its points.

Fort Hays State 23, Ouachita Baptist 17
Fort Hays State took six of the 10 matches contested in its conference dual with Ouachita Baptist. It was a back-and-forth battle that saw the lead trade hands once and a tie through four matches.
D'Andre Brown scored his second win of the evening with a 12-1 major decision at 125. However, Ouachita Baptist took its only lead of the night when James Anderson picked up a pin in the 133 match.
The Tigers moved back in front when
Kaiden Hoffman notched a 20-3 tech fall at 141, putting FHSU up 9-6. Ouachita Baptist leveled the team score with a decision by Caleb Andrews at 149.
Micah Castro (157) and
Cason Lindsey (165) put the Tigers in front for good with back-to-back wins. Castro picked up a 19-3 tech fall, while Lindsey held off his opponent for a 4-2 decision. FHSU led 17-9 through six matches.
Ethan Day put Ouachita Baptist back within three with a tech fall at 174, but
Matthew Rodriguez (184) and
Ryan Patterson (197) sealed the Tiger win with a pair of decisions. Rodriguez won 9-7 and Patterson picked up his second win of the night by a score of 12-5. FHSU was up 23-14 going into the final match. BK Seago wrapped up the dual with an 8-1 win for OBU at 285.
