LILBURN, Ga. - The Fort Hays State women's basketball team moved to No. 8 in this week's WBCA NCAA Division II Coaches Poll, released Tuesday (Dec. 9) by the coaches organization.
 
Now 7-1 on the year, the Tigers picked up 408 points in the voting process, seven behind No. 7 Nova Southeastern and just 12 back of their next opponent, No. 6 Pittsburg State.
 
This is the sixth time in program history that the Tigers have been ranked No. 8 in the coaches poll. The Tigers are 8-0 when ranked eighth in the country, including a 6-0 record in home games. FHSU was twice ranked No. 8 last season, going 4-0 during those two weeks.
 
Fort Hays State is 192-49 all-time when ranked in the WBCA poll, including a 138-29 record when ranked inside the top 10. The Tigers have now been ranked in 125 separate releases of the WBCA Poll since joining the DII ranks in 1991. FHSU has been included in the top 10 84 times.
 
The Tigers will play at home for the first time all season on Saturday (Dec. 13) when FHSU hosts the sixth-ranked Gorillas in a non-conference battle. It will be the latest home opener on record for the program.
