Rodriguez is one of four wrestlers at 184 pounds that drew a pigtail match in the preliminary round. The sophomore from Salina, Kan. will open the weekend against Kyler Pickard of Belmont Abbey, who heads into nationals with a 19-9 record. The winner of that bout will move on to face off with seventh-seeded Brayden Mirjavadi of Grand Valley State.
Â
Rodriguez earned his spot at nationals after rattling off four-consecutive wins in the consolation bracket of the Super Region VI Championships, placing third. He won via pin in three of those four victories, bringing his season total to eight pins and 12 bonus-point victories. He is 16-17 overall and 9-11 against DII competition.
Â
Henry is competing at the national championships for the fourth consecutive season. He is the No. 8 seed in the 197-pound bracket this season and will take on the winner of Jeramiah Larson (Maryville) and John Parker-Wilson (Newberry) in the first round. He earned another trip to nationals after placing second at regionals two weeks ago, reaching the finals before losing on a takedown in the waning seconds of the title bout.
Â
The El Paso, Texas native has accumulated a 5-5 record all-time at the event, including a 4-1 record in 2023 when he placed third to earn an All-American trophy. Henry is 13-6 this season, including a 10-4 mark against Division II opponents. He is 2-4 against other wrestlers in the field this season. The senior has wrestled three others in the bracket at the national meet, including a 1-1 record against top-seeded Dominic Murphy of St. Cloud State and an 0-1 record against No. 3 seed Derek Blubaugh (UIndy) and Wyatt Miller (Grand Valley State).
