The Fort Hays State men's golf team will host the 2025 FHSU Tiger Classic next Monday and Tuesday (March 31-April 1) at Smoky Hill Country Club. 100 players representing 18 schools will be competing in the 54-hole event, with 36 holes scheduled for Monday and the final 18 set for Tuesday on the 6,105-yard, par-70 course.
Â
Monday's start time has been pushed back to 12:30 p.m. due to low temperatures in the morning, while action on Tuesday will begin at 8:30 a.m. Pairings and live scoring will be available via
Scoreboard powered by Clippd.
Â
This is the first time the men's team has hosted an event since October 2021 and is just the fourth time the team has played at home since 2009.
Â
The Tiger Classic is the third of three regular season MIAA designated events, meaning teams and players will accumulate points that go towards determining the regular season champion and all-conference honors. All 11 schools sponsoring men's golf in the MIAA will be in attendance alongside seven non-conference schools, including four from the NSIC, two from the RMAC and one from the GAC.
Â
The Tigers are currently tied for sixth in the league standings with Northeastern State, Missouri Southern and Newman with 10 points each, just 4.5 points behind third-ranked Central Missouri. Central Oklahoma, the fifth-ranked team in the country, tops the standings with 21 points, while Washburn is second with 18.
Â
Eight of the top nine ranked golfers in the Central Region will be in action in Hays, including FHSU's
Cooper Scheck who currently ranks eighth in the region and 90th in Division II. The Dodge City, Kan. junior has posted a stroke average of 71.6 over 21 rounds and eight tournaments this season, placing in the top 10 five times including one victory.
Â
Scheck has eight of Fort Hays State's 17 sub-par rounds this season. Five other Tigers have at least one round under par this year, including three from
Jackson Rader, two from
Cole Streck and
Parker Krob and one each from
Jordan McCaslin and
Jacob George.
Â
As a team the Tigers have posted a stroke average of 294.8 this season, winning one tournament and finishing in the top five three other times. Fort Hays State is one of eight schools competing this week that was listed in the initial 2025 NCAA Division II Region Rankings.
