No. 22 Tigers and No. 3 Thunderwolves Play to Scoreless Draw

HAYS, Kan. — Fort Hays State University and Colorado State University Pueblo played to a scoreless draw in a battle of nationally ranked teams on Thursday (Sept. 11) at FHSU Soccer Stadium. With the result, the No. 22 ranked Tigers and No. 3 ranked Thunderwolves each moved to 1-0-2 overall for the season.
 
In the first half, Fort Hays applied pressure with five shots, including attempts from Juan Linares and Elias Ovelar Semeniuk, both saved by CSU Pueblo's Esteban Gonzalez. Despite eight corner kicks, the home side could not break through, ending the half scoreless. A physical period saw the Tigers commit eleven fouls, while the Thunderwolves received five yellow cards (two on coaches) amidst their six fouls.
 
The second half between Fort Hays and CSU Pueblo saw no change in the scoreline. Fort Hays State maintained a strong defensive presence, with goalkeeper Payton Roehrich making two crucial saves. The FHSU offense managed four shots, three of which were on target. CSU Pueblo tested Roehrich with four shots and earned one corner kick. Roehrich finished with two saves, while CSU Pueblo keeper Gonzalez had five in the match. The match saw 12 cautions handed out altogether, eight for CSU Pueblo and four for FHSU.
 
Fort Hays State heads on the road this weekend for a neutral site match with Thomas More (Ky.) in Columbia, Mo. on Sunday (Sept. 14) at 12 p.m. The match will be held at Columbia College.
