Tigers Close Road Schedule with Loss at No. 6 UNK

Kearney, Neb. – Fort Hays State volleyball wrapped up its regular-season road schedule Friday night, falling to No. 6 Nebraska-Kearney in straight sets (25-15, 25-13, 25-13).

The Tigers opened the first set in a back-and-forth battle, taking an early 2-1 lead before tying the score again at 4-4 following an attack error by Nebraska-Kearney. Fort Hays State remained competitive early, using timely blocks from Ashlyn Reeves to challenge the Lopers at the net. Nebraska-Kearney eventually found its rhythm, responding with four consecutive points to build an 18-12 advantage. The Tigers continued to fight but were unable to overcome the deficit, falling 25-15 in the opening set.

Fort Hays State looked to find its momentum in the second set, staying within reach of the Lopers through the early points. However, Nebraska-Kearney began to create separation around the 10-point mark and carried that momentum through the remainder of the set. The Tigers faced a similar challenge in the third, competing early before the Lopers pulled away once again to secure the match with a 25-13 win.

Ella Goodwin and Ashlyn Reeves led the Tigers offensively with seven kills apiece. Goodwin hit .125 on the night, while Reeves added four blocks defensively. Annie Eaton distributed 18 assists, while Haylee Wolf led the Tigers with 11 digs.

As a team, Fort Hays State recorded 24 kills, two service aces and 6.0 total blocks.

The Tigers return home for their final two regular-season matches, beginning with a Friday matchup against Central Missouri at 6 p.m. Fort Hays State will close out the regular season on Saturday with Senior Day, hosting Missouri Southern at 3 p.m.
