HAYS, Kan. - The Fort Hays State men's wrestling team fell to second-ranked Nebraska-Kearney by a score of 39-4 Friday evening (Feb. 13) inside Gross Memorial Coliseum.
 
The Lopers (14-4, 4-1 MIAA) jumped in front 11-0 after taking the first two matchups before Kolton Field got the Tigers (3-9, 1-3 MIAA) on the board at 141. The junior racked up four takedowns in the match, including one in the first period, two in the second and another in the third to post a 15-4 major decision.

UNK bounced back after that, taking the next seven bouts to secure the win. The Lopers were docked a point due to unsportsmanlike conduct after the 197-pound matchup, bringing the final tally to 39-4.
 
Fort Hays State honored six seniors before the match for Senior Night, including Hunter Harris, Justus Hulse, Charlie Hutson, Cason Lindsey, Ryan Patterson and Matthew Rodriguez.


 
The Tigers will wrap up the regular season next Sunday (Feb. 22, 2 p.m.) when they travel to Wichita, Kan. to take on Newman.
