The Fort Hays State men's wrestling team wraps up the regular season Sunday (Feb. 22) with its final conference dual against Newman. Action is set to begin at 3 p.m. inside Fugate Gymnasium in Wichita, Kan.

Fort Hays State heads into the weekend 3-9 in dual action and 1-3 in MIAA competition, while the Jets are 0-6 overall and 0-4 in league action.

197-pound starter
Ryan Patterson ranks second on the team with 18 wins this season, turning in a record of 18-8 overall. The Peyton, Colo. native is 10-2 in dual action while leading the team with 14 wins against Division II opponents. His five technical falls are also the most on the squad.

165-pounder
Cason Lindsey holds the top winning percentage on the team, claiming victory in 11 of his 15 bouts this season for a win rate of .733. Six of his 11 wins have been bonus-point victories, including three pins and three major decisions.
Cash Thomas at 157 pounds is tied for third on the team with 10 bonus-point victories, including four pins, four technical falls and two major decisions. His quickest pin of 22 seconds is second-fastest on the team this season.

The Jets are receiving votes in the latest NWCA Division II Coaches Poll, with 133-pounder Jevin Foust currently ranked eighth in the country.

The Tigers are 18-1 all-time against Newman. The Tigers have won each of the last five matchups and have a 5-0 record against the Jets during the
Erik Wince era. Fort Hays State rallied from an 11-point deficit to defeat the Jets at home last season by one, 23-22.

Looking ahead, FHSU will head into the postseason next Saturday (Feb. 28) when the Tigers head to Golden, Colo. for the Super Region VI Championships. The top three finishers at each weight will then advance to the NCAA Division II Championships March 13-14 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
